Hello world! Events around bicycling are moving fast in the Miami Valley, and Dayton.com is here to cover it. I’ll be doing my best to keep you up to date on all the most interesting happenings, people, groups, gear, rides, routes and whatever else spins into view!
One of the biggest developments in Miami Valley bike life this year is the explosion of activity that is Bike Miami Valley. The regional advocacy group, which has a long history that we’ll explore in the future, has in the last five months:
- Hired a full-time executive director, Laura Estandia,
- Hired a full-time business development director, Chris Buck,
- Just hired a full-time program manager, Emmy Fabich,
- And, oh yes, announced the launch of Link, an ambitious bike sharing program in downtown Dayton.
Bike Miami Valley — and, yep, I’m a member — is doing a lot of other exciting stuff, too, including gearing up a regional bike safety campaign, facilitating the Miami Valley Cycling Summit on May 29 in Piqua, organizing chapters to work with local governments, and enjoying life in the process.
If you want to see what’s pedaling down the road, come to the Bike Miami Valley Regional Advocacy Social this Tuesday evening, April 14, from 6:30 to 8 or so at T.J. Chumps in Miamisburg.
You can find out what the organization is doing, what it is planning, how you can join in the fun and meet some cool people in the process. You can also get lots more information at its website http://www.bikemiamivalley.org.
